Decking and materials
Composite decking needs the least upkeep and stays cooler and cleaner underfoot. Pressure-treated lumber is the most economical and is what most dock framing is built from. Hardwood is the premium option for owners who want the look and are willing to maintain it.
Below the deck, the pilings, framing and hardware matter more than anything you can see. We use marine-grade pilings and fasteners rated for salt water.
Repair or rebuild?
Loose boards, worn decking and a few tired pilings can usually be repaired. When the framing is rotted or the pilings have been eaten away at the waterline, a rebuild is the safer money. We will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.

Questions we hear
Do I need a permit to build or replace a dock or seawall?
Almost always, yes. Docks, seawalls and boat lifts in Brevard County need a building permit from the county or from your city, and depending on the site the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers may also need to sign off. We prepare the drawings and handle the permit applications as part of the job.
What decking do you recommend?
Composite decking costs more up front and needs very little upkeep. Pressure-treated lumber costs less and needs more attention over the years. Hardwood sits in between on upkeep and at the top on price. We will walk you through the trade-offs for your site and budget.
How long can my dock be?
Dock length and size are limited by local and state rules, and the limits depend on your lot and the waterway. We check what applies to your property before we design anything.
